DAY 33: Give up telling POC how they should deal with racism
Processing living under oppressive systems when you are dealing with the impact of racism through generations in your day to day is extremely complicated. In many ways, Black, Indigenious, People of Colour are in the early days of anti-racism and decolonisation – both of which contribute to reconnecting to a sense of humanity and agency.
There are many layers to understanding and addressing racism in one’s life, community and the world. There is little about that experience that white identified people can understand or resonate with.
BIPOC folks are on their way to figuring it out. They find support and unity among themselves as they work to decolonise ways of being, thinking that have been shaped by white supremacists culture.
TIP: We invite you to do your own work as a white-identified person and to give Black, Indigenous, People of Colour the grace to find their own back to who they were before the tyranny of racism subjected them to generations of harm. BIPOC folks have the tools, experience, and capacity to map out their own journeys of decolonisation.
